The entire press and publishing system in Germany is based on Article 5 of the German Constitution which relates to freedom of the press. The German press and distribution industry has derived
the following from this article:
"Everyone has the right to express and disseminate their opinion freely, whether in speech, text and pictures, and to inform him- or herself from generally accessible sources without hindrance..."
